A revolution without dancing is not a revolution worth having. -Emma Goldman

Hosts Austin Petersen and Laura Meyers discuss Donald Trump’s sex appeal, and why the Babes for Trump phenomenon is just as important to spreading his message as the Babes of Liberty group.

In this podcast is discussed the issues of Trump’s authoritarian policies, marketing a message, and how anarchist feminist Emma Goldman dealt with someone telling her not to dance. Hint: Don’t tell an anarchist feminist what to do.

  • I sincerely hope that this post does not offend anyone. Really. If you are offended, please accept my apology. But this is free speech right? I just have to say this. People talk about the war between the sexes. Both sides can do things to fix the problem but because men cannot control what women do, and can only control themselves, I would like to offer 5 simple points of manners/norms to de-escalate. I offer my iron-clad guarantee that this will work. No need to make a big show.  No production. Just make it casual and normal. No words need ever be exchanged. Just do it and watch the magic. I’m strongly of the opinion that a major reason for the persistence of the kind of “feminism” that actually bugs and scares men has to do with the collapse of standards of behavior by men. These fives rules fix that. 1. Men should hold doors for women. No matter what. This is true for entering any public or private space. The woman goes first. The one exception is the turning carousel. Those can be awkward but the man usually goes first. 2. Men must always and forever open the car door for women, no matter what, forever and ever, wherever, whenever. You don’t have to go around the car to let her out unless she sits and waits for this (which she will not unless it is  formal occasion). 3. A man always lights a woman’s cigarette. You can do this if it is in her mouth, or, she asks for one from you, you can light it in your mouth and hand it to her, which can be just a bit erotic. 4. The first time any woman comes to any table for eating, ever, all men must gesture toward standing, and the man closet to her MUST pull out her chair. I know this seems old world but if you do it, you will forever be considered the most amazing man ever. If she gets up again and comes back, you do not have to do anything, and, in fact, should not. This is a one-time deal. 5. A man must never ever impose himself physically on a woman, no matter what, whether it is sex or kissing or slapping on the rear or touching her in provocative ways or even holding her hand when she has not signaled interest. If you do make some physical move, and she says no, even slightly hints at it, your only job is to respond by backing away, no matter what. Forget the old movies and forget the scenes in sex novels. Times are changed. You must signal that you are not a threat, and this means listening when she hints at no. I’m happy to hear more ideas. Or corrections. Or emendations. I really do believe that doing these things — very simple but highly symbolic and even substantive — can make the war between the sexes reduce in importance.

  • I have been paying attention to the craziness going on over on YouTube and I think it would be a good idea for all of us to post links to alternate social media sites. Sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are starting to try to shut down a lot of people so I think it is a good idea to start finding backups at the very least. I will list the few I am aware of I will add I have not yet used any of these… this is a firearms based site and it has come up a few times in conversation on other sites as the back up location for most of the major firearms content producers should YouTube and Facebook start shutting them out. this has been recommended by multiple YouTubers as a back up site should things get to bad. My understanding is it is still in beta however. If anyone is wondering what YouTubers they are Black Pigeon Speaks and Computing Forever but my understanding is a LOT of YouTubers have already moved there. This one was mentioned by Black Pigeon Speaks and I think it is for mobile only but I am simply putting everything I am aware of on this list. If you are aware of any other sites please add to this list. Also goes without saying

  • When J. K. Rowling mentioned a petition to ban Donald Trump from the UK, the audience at the PEN Literary Gala applauded. But unlike much of the left, she knows that taking away freedom of speech threatens everyone, including her, and she rebuked the people who clapped. “Just a moment: Now, I find almost everything that Mr. Trump says objectionable. I consider him offensive and bigoted. But he has my full support to come to my country and be offensive and bigoted there. His freedom to speak protects my freedom to call him a bigot.” The people who applauded were doubtless the same ones who objected to PEN’s free speech award to Charlie Hebdo. While they’re not likely to be convinced by any argument, she may have gotten others to think about the danger in today’s spreading hostility to free speech. That’s what counts.

  • It took me a while to understand that Trumpism isn’t really about the issues. Not even the issues of anti-immigration and protectionism. It’s about the Chosen One, the Great Leader, the Messiah. When people think things have gone badly wrong, they often turn to someone who will set them right by taking command. The outrageous things he does have only increased his popularity. He boasts, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.” When this mentality takes hold, there is no right or wrong for the Leader. When he does outrageous things, that merely proves nothing will stand in the way of his will. Caesar, Napoleon, Lenin, Hitler, Castro, Khomeini: They’ve all known the trick of harnessing the tribalist mindset. The specifics they offered didn’t matter so much as the promise that nothing would stand in their way. They can’t do anything horrible enough to turn people against them, except for failing. Telling Trumpists that he’ll do horrible things or that his policies will hurt everyone is beside the point. They expect him to “make America great again” by sheer force of authority.
