Description

I’ve decided to do a short show today since, well, the news sucks. Frankly, I’m sick of hearing about the latest sexual misconduct accusations that are now being levied against everyone you can think of. Even Charlie Rose is being accused of some ridiculous and outrageous behavior.

But there is a decent article about the number of older millennials who are still living at home or with relatives. Most commentators would use the story to complain about the younger generation, their lack of ambition, sense of entitlement or some other negative connotation.

Instead, I’d like to use it as a teachable moment shed some light on why it’s happening and what can be done to ensure you get a job and keep a job regardless of how old you are.

The truth is, today’s youth is no different than when I was growing up. People made the same claims about the Gen X’ers as they do about millennials today. It’s just human nature.

So enjoy your holiday. I’m off the rest of the week. See you Monday!!

Jason

  • What’s your favorite investing sites? – I use news aggregators to find good articles to read: 321gold.com, dollarcollapse.com – I use the GATA and SGTreport RSS feeds for higher volume blasting. – I listen to all of the interviews I can: kwn, usawatchdog, liberty&finance, tekoa desilva when he was active, etc. – I have a good collection of blogs via my news aggregator (I use feedly now and previously google reader) but I find it easy to fall out of the habit of reading them. After I’ve read a blog for a while, I’ve usually internalized their worldview and then start to find their stuff predictable, and then my reading falls off. What about you?

  • I’m an assistant teacher at a private elementary school. I have a B.A. in English and no teaching credential. I worked as a tutor and at an after school program before. Basically I have no work experience outside of education. Last week contracts for the 2016-17 school year were sent out and I did not get one. My principal spoke to me about it. She said that I was doing a great job and was one of the most efficient people she’s ever met. However, she said that I did not seem happy at work. She said that other people have a hard time getting to know me. I’ve basically lost all will to work since then. My head teacher thinks my contract will be renewed and she always speaks highly of me. She even said today that “Next year you can work on designing the social studies curriculum.” She knows that I did not get my contract in the mail (she asked) and she’s probably talked to the principal about it. I’m upset because I feel like I’ve worked so hard for the past 6 months, yet it’s likely that I will be fired just for not being social. Perhaps education is the wrong field for me. I think if I just quit now then I can still get a positive reference/recommendation from my employer. However, I have no other skills. I still have 6 months (my paychecks are spread out over 12 months but there’s only 3 more months of school) so it’s possible that I can re-train myself during that time. Any ideas of what I can do?

  • It looks like as of this morning that there is no longer a way to add news articles. The submit button takes you to the entertainment “Create” page. There does not seem to be any other option than images, film, or music, which clearly does not cover most news stories. Am I missing something?
