  • I dutifully watched Atlas Shrugged Part III, which was released on September 12 to local movie theaters. As expected, there were not many people in my theater. I must admit that I have a hard time arguing with the one (somewhat negative) review I have seen: The film was obviously fairly low budget, and I did not find the philosophical content much higher or very persuasive. Even if this film was seen by large numbers of people, I doubt they would be very inspired or educated. From that point of view, the high point of the film was where John Galt was being offered great economic power by the US President, when Galt said “that kind of power should not exist”.  But I think that there should have been stronger emphasis on the fact that Galt was being tortured in order to force him to become an economic dictator (under the President).  As portrayed, it simply looked like they were trying to hurt him because they didn’t like what he did or said. I was somewhat turned-off by the masses chanting “We want John Galt” — as if they were looking for a new dictator to replace the President. The movie portrayed a decaying society, but could have better emphasized how modern fascism of regulation is at least as economically destructive as socialism. On a less cerebral level, I was turned-off by the chocolate cake that Dagney and John were eating. Also, John’s partly unshaven face reinforced my impression that for many women being partly unshaven is very sexy.

  • Hello guys, It is a short activity at the end of a lesson which is generally some kind of evaluative activity of what happened during the lesson. It could be as straightforward as some Q&A which would enable the teacher to evaluate if the objectives had been met, and what the students had actually taken in during the lesson. It could involve asking them some questions which might make them think further about the lesson topic. It could be a short quiz. It could be student self or peer evaluation task. It rounds off the lesson and hopefully consolidates some of the learning. In art, it might be something like gathering all the work together and discussing which pieces worked really well as a whole group or even smaller groups of four of so – getting them to point out what they think really worked and why.   • Hello Guys, I have been teaching Photography for two years now in my current school. When I started, photography was only just introduced into the curriculum at KS5, it is now been introduced to KS4 students with a high intake this year, and next year. As a department we are well equipped with DLSR, Bridge cameras and access to Photoshop. With the popularity I proposed to my HoD and AP last year about getting a darkroom installed into one of the large cupboards in my room. I wanted a darkroom primarily because I believe it will improve understanding, knowledge, and skills in recording light and producing photographic images, and thus attainment within photography, and it is my specialism. After providing SLT links to the specification’s for KS4 & 5, they are now questioning the need for a darkroom, as it is not a requirement but rather an optional choice. I have now been tasked in researching how having a darkroom will impact student attainment. Does anyone have any facts, figures or some sort of evidence on the impact a darkroom has within their schools photography curriculum?     I didn’t find the right solution from the internet.   • I find it odd that the Libertarian candidates never touch base on this issue in their campaigns. I want all anarchists, Libertarians, Anarcho-Capitalists, ect too answer.   The photo below shows the “Great Society” leader, and the other who was accused of being a Communist insurgent shaking hands over the Voting Rights Act of 1965. I guess this photograph sums-up on what version of history one will refuse to accept, and the other which will be accepted as the “norm.”

  • In a death penalty case, do they have the “Right” to life/live, or is life considered a “Privilege”  and is thus justified in the state taking it away? I go further…Who determines if a life is a privilege or a right? Is that even possible to dictate?
