This is episode 232 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast. It’s been a wild week. There’s so much to cover and we’ll get right to it.
First of all, the Bitcoin price crumbled a bit recently. It’s probably due to an SEC announcement suggesting that crypto exchanges will have to register. Papers please!
Also this week, Twitter shut down @Bitcoin for awhile. The Bcash account was probably deemed to have been impersonating a Bitcoin account and it’s hilarious.
AsicBoost is back in the news again since SlushPool just decided to support it. Some people say it’s an attack on Bitcoin, but isn’t it fair if everyone can use the same exploit? This story will likely require a fun discussion about patent law as well.
Coinbase has an index fund now. But does anyone really care?
And to top it all off, we have another special guest host with us this week, TrollCoin the Blockchain Troll. He’ll help us chill out tonight and make fun of all the news.
Check the list below for some of the specific stories we’ll cover and catch the livestream tonight at 9PM Eastern. See you soon!

  • I’m interested in working for Bitcoin but atm it’s hard to find these kind of sites. At the moment it seems quite hard to benefit from Bitcoin unless you have purchased Bitcoins through your current accounts as investments. However, as someone noted somewhere else, buying and selling goods for Bitcoin online seems to be hard. How can Bitcoin make a real difference while it’s still not a feasible currency for most of us?

  • I have been paying attention to the craziness going on over on YouTube and I think it would be a good idea for all of us to post links to alternate social media sites. Sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are starting to try to shut down a lot of people so I think it is a good idea to start finding backups at the very least. I will list the few I am aware of I will add I have not yet used any of these… this is a firearms based site and it has come up a few times in conversation on other sites as the back up location for most of the major firearms content producers should YouTube and Facebook start shutting them out. this has been recommended by multiple YouTubers as a back up site should things get to bad. My understanding is it is still in beta however. If anyone is wondering what YouTubers they are Black Pigeon Speaks and Computing Forever but my understanding is a LOT of YouTubers have already moved there. This one was mentioned by Black Pigeon Speaks and I think it is for mobile only but I am simply putting everything I am aware of on this list. If you are aware of any other sites please add to this list. Also goes without saying

  • Bitcoin has drawn quite a bit of attention in the mainstream media since this story broke out a while back on the bitcoin forums and reddit. Are any of ya’ll taking this seriously or just looking at it as a buying opportunity?   Associated article (one of many):   Forbes
