3D Printed Firearms

Good or bad idea?  I think they’re a positive for freedom but currently not worth the risk of blowing your fingers off.

Don’t forget the 3D printed rifle:

Manufacturing your own firearms will always involve some safety risk. But I suspect that as the quality of consumer-grade 3D printers continues to improve the risk of blowing your fingers off will decrease significantly. You’ll still need to read the instructions that come with the CAD files. But I suspect that the real risk will (continue to) be from poor quality hand loads.

I don’t think there is that much of a problem with 3D metal printed firearms

There will always be some risk in early versions of anything that is potentially dangerous. I think it’s great that people are willing to take the risk and do the research now, and I feel like the market will make room for it.
