I’m pleased to see this group exists, and that I’m not the only anarchist who really cares about these issues! 🙂
I’m just curious to know what brought each of you to this subject matter. For me personally, it was Walter Block:

Sorry about the barrage of links everyone. Found some good content over on C4SS. Free market environmentalism doesn’t get very much press. Especially outside of PERC I rarely see anyone posting articles about it.

I am totally gullible in both directions, with regard to the science. It is just over my head.
I agree we really want to know what can anyone do about it if it’s true. I would not dismiss the skeptics as ridiculous or asinine. “the American Physical Society has since appointed a committee of working scientists (one of whom is Curry herself) to reex…[Read more] -

Global warming is a real thing. The ridiculous argument over whether or not it is man-made is asinine. The only questions we should be asking are: does something actually need to be done? And, can we actually do anything about this?

Yeah I heard that too. I’m a big fan but he is very frustrating. This is very typical of him. He always concedes way too much. And on very basic objections that should be a layup for anyone versed in basic libertarian literature. Let alone someone who has been a self-professed libertarian/ancap for several decades. He was on Glenn Beck and very…[Read more]

Good points.
Many conservatives and libertarians focus solely on denying the fact of anthropogenic global warming, and so legitimize the premise that if anthropogenic global warming is a reality, then a massive interventionist effort is the proper response.

I just listened to Penn Jillette’s podcast (Penn’s Sunday School, May 31, 2014). He briefly discussed his change of heart on global warming, which I would paraphrase as “whether or not global warming is a problem, this is all stuff we want to do.” This is a cop-out.
Sure, some things that have been discussed as reducing carbon emissions or…[Read more]
I love his “telephone booth” story (that everyone on the planet can fit comfortably into what is essentially the size of texas) and often use it to my defense in some debates.
I think I started adulthood vaguely environmentalist-esque because of my childhood spent wandering in the bush. So I was looking for answers to these questions as I came away from socialism and into liberty.

For me it was just wanting to know how a free society would solve such problems. Especially since you could not force another person to live a certain life style.
Thanks for the reading suggestions/links, guys! I’ll have to check this out later. My stack of reading material keeps piling up. lol. I’m not complaining, of course. 🙂 This is a fascinating topic to me.
