Books for Older Kids (and for the Rest of Us)

  • B.K. Marcus

An interesting subthread has developed in the “Bookworm Shame” discussion. Apparently a bunch of us are fans of chapter books and YA fiction, from Percy Jackson and Harry Potter to Hunger Games and Shadow Children.

My wife and I read all of Harry Potter before our son was born, but most of the other middle-grade and teen books and series I know are from our son’s audiobook (and now increasingly ebook) collection. Some I let him listen to or read on his own. Others I want to share.

I’ve sung the praises of Rick Riordan’s series (Percy Jackson, Kane Chronicles) elsewhere at Liberty.me, but I’d be happy to repeat them if anyone is interested.

    Do you read older-kids books?

I know plenty of grownups who do, and they don’t all have children.
