    Thank you, John!

For those who weren’t at last week’s Hangout, I was asking the bookworms to tell us the last time they read nonfiction that impressed them for the quality of the writing (as opposed to the content).

David Miller gave Douglas Adams as an example. I’m reading Salmon of Doubt because of David’s recommendation in an earlier Hangout, specifically for the the chapter “Artificial God.” Adams, it seems to me, is an example of an atheist “defending” religion in terms that would be recognized by any fan of Austrian economist F.A. Hayek. Seems to me Adams independently came up with the equivalent of Hayek’s transaction-costs defense of tradition.

Anyway, that took the conversation into the big names in “New Atheism.”

    Thus these Four Horsemen.

My guess is that they will come up again in this week’s Hangout, but honestly, it’s so hard to tell where these conversations will lead. That’s part of the charm. Come see us on Wednesday night at 8 PM Eastern:

    (Thanks again, John!)
