    I mentioned tonight that I was reading and re-reading The Collected Stories of Eudora Welty. I (and many others much more qualified than me) consider her a master of the short story. She is mainly known for the Comedic Southern Story (my words), but she can be very powerful as can be seen here (I suggest you read the Jackson Free Press setup and then read the piece)…

    Also,

    Knowing that we have many aspiring writers at Liberty.me, (I am, sadly, probably not of that cloth) I suggest you reference Welty’s “One Writer’s Beginnings”. This book was derived from a lecture series at Harvard and should provide an excellent reference as well as a wonderful introduction to Eudora Welty if you are not familiar with her work. She was a genius (and I say that ready to argue if you disagree).
