Just been listening to Sheila E. talking about the physical toll that Prince’s performing career took on his body. Apparently he had a hip problem for which he took painkillers. A sobering reminder that his art came at a cost – possibly even the ultimate one – but one that he was willing to accept in order to give the world the best Prince he…[Read more]

Gary J. Hall‘s article UK schools are becoming police states has a new comment 3 years, 6 months ago

I agree. Unseen and unrecognized evil is the worst and most persistent kind. Then there are the evils that people only partially see. For example, using the phrase, “becoming a police state” when assessing the condition of nearly anyplace in the world is a severe understatement. Specifically WRT government schools, a government school is not “like a prison.” It is a prison!
Yes. I recognize that the vocalizing the full and shocking truth of the matter may alienate a speaker from some audiences, but the truth it is, nonetheless.

Wow, this is terrifying. I remember seeing the world a bit differently after Army SERE training, now it seems society is becoming even more like a POW camp. Propoganga, brainwashing, no privacy, turning us against each other. The mantra at SERE school was “you are always being exploited” unfortunately that continued even after training ended.

Gary, this is a sobering article. Thanks for drawing attention to the realities that would have seemed absurd a decade ago.

America has lost one of its music legends. Maurice White, founder and erstwhile leader of the band Earth, Wind & Fire passed away on Wednesday night. This man and his band shaped the musical landscape from the 70s onwards like no other, in the states and the UK. Earth, Wind & Fire were The Beatles of black music.

Victory (of sorts) for Uber in London! The worst of the proposed regulations (such as an enforced 5 min pickup wait) are not being implemented and Uber will be able to provide its service unhampered. The downside is that the cost of becoming an Uber driver is going to be raised by some regulations and private hire vehicles may lose their…[Read more]

A new law on festive season smiling comes into effect today. The Minister for Happiness said the new law was necessary to safeguard the spirit of Christmas and to protect children from humbuggery. All British citizens are now required to smile whenever they are in a public place during the month of December. Those attending funerals or other…[Read more]

I’ve just published a new piece. It’s not aimed at my fellow enlightened liberty lovers here, clearly, but more the British public in general. As such I’d appreciate if you would share around as you see fit, particularly if you’re UK based. Cheers!

Been feeling unwell in a somewhat concerning fashion for about a week. Rather than wait a week (at least) for an appointment with a NHS GP and then go and sit in a waiting room with a bunch of sick people, I decided to use a new online service available here in the UK called Push Doctor (it’s like a skype session with a doctor, basically). It’s…[Read more]

I’ve just discovered that Amazon can deliver goods, such as toilet paper or beer (!), to us in just 2 hours. There’s something magical about that. It blows my mind how different the world is now compared to the (pre-Internet) one I grew up in.

Astonishing. One of London’s main railway stations was evacuated and closed for a short time yesterday afternoon so a team of armed police could arrest a suspected class-B drugs dealer. Society must yield and come to a halt for the State to gallantly fight the war on drugs it appears…
